 Pembrokeshire Walks

The Wales Coast Path and stretches for 870 miles. My Pembrokeshire walks, described below, make use of some parts of this path which in turn are part of the 186 Pembrokeshire Coast Path section. Using a combination of footpaths and lanes creates circular walks. As with most long distance footpaths, the acorn sign keeps you on the correct path and a typical example seen in Pembrokeshire is on the right.

The Wales Coast Path, now complete along the whole coast of Wales, provides some great walking opportunities and is an important element in my walks. It is well signposted.

There are a series of Wales Coast Path Official Guides

I was very impressed by the condition of the gates on the coast path. Even the hinges had been greased!

The Pembrokeshire coast is well served by small buses with delightful names:

  • Puffin Shuttle

  • Coastal Cruiser

  • Celtic Coaster

  • Strumble Shuttle

  • Poppit Rocket

These make linear walks possible, breaking the 186 miles into manageable portions. Timetables can be obtained here.

The coastline is very varied with a mixture of lovely sandy beaches and dramatic cliffs and headlands. From a walkers point of view, despite the plunging cliffs, the walks along their tops are relatively level.

There are a number of attractive towns and villages, not least St Davids, Tenby and Solva.
