 Gwynedd Walks

Gwynedd was once an independent kingdom, until the English conquered it in the 13th Century. Its precise composition has varied via different Parliamentary Acts, a major change being that it 'lost' Anglesey which became a separate unitary authority.

Gwynedd has a high proportion of Welsh speakers.

A large part of the county comprises part of Snowdonia and not surprisingly, especially with its north coast resorts, tourism is a major industry. Agriculture still features strongly but its slate industry has declined.
