Crayke to Oulston Walk - Annex

Someone who has recently done this walk (June 2025) has reported there have been some changes to parts of the footpaths used on this route so the directions need to be amended. I do not know when or if I will get the opportunity to revisit the route 'one the ground' so my options are to either remove the route altogether or flag up the inconsistencies. I have opted for the latter approach as it seems a shame to scrap an overall pleasant walk because of changes on a partial section, particularly as the informant thought the walk was " a beautiful walk with some great views".

1) Just after Oulston, my directions say after cresting the brow of the hill, there are newly planted trees. It is reported that these have now grown significantly and that the route is difficult to follow. The field in front of the trees was overgrown with no discernable path. The current OS map (June 2025) does not seem to show any alternative path but if anyone spots and can describe any alternative route, this would be appreciated. If trees have been allowed to grow to block the path, this should really be reported to North Yorkshire CC footpaths officer See https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/roads-parking-and-travel/public-rights-way/rights-way-maintenance

However they do need specifics on location, OS references and/or references to their Rights of Way map  and preferably photos too!

As at August 2025, another walker has reported that on walking to the east side of the plantation there is a clearly cut, wide path which is adjacent to the hedge. It may not follow the exact route but it makes for easy walking.
