LagOmar Museum
The legend behind
this unique “house” (and hence its name) is that the famous Egyptian
actor Omar Sharif, of Dr Zhivago fame, bought it. Unfortunately, he got
involved in a gambling bridge game with the developer and promptly lost it
within 24 hours. According to information on display there, what Omar Sharif
did not know, was that the developer was a champion bridge player!
Regardless of the
legend, LagOmar, yet another of César Manrique’s ideas, is a magical
fusion of art, architecture, landscaping, horticulture and geology and a
gorgeous place to meander around. It makes the most of its position with far
reaching views. There are all sorts of interesting nooks and crannies and
many places where the surrounding rock provides a cool respite on a hot day.
There is a
bar/restaurant.
Strongly
recommended.
Situated on the
north side of the town of Nazaret, just south of Teguise.
